japanese mash

Hello! I'm originally from Cardiff in Wales but am currently living in Hagi-shi, Japan. I'm an Assistant Language Teacher on the Jet programme and have set up this blog to act as a diary of my time here and also to let friends know what I'm up to (I hate group emails as much as the next person!). Enjoy..... or be bored.

Hadaka Matsuri - Nakedmashou!

Stirling, Pete, Dave, Tom Smith and I travelled to Okayama for the naked man festival. None of us had really thought this through or done any research. Hell on earth is the only way i can describe it. We braved the elements with a loin cloth (fundoshi) wedged up our arse cracks to keep our dignity and any body warmth left. We then ran around the streets 3 times being drenched in freezing cold water by sadistic old ladies at the side of the road. Then through a pool of water three times and then into the mass orgy of naked men to fight for a couple of sticks. I can't describe it. It was painful and dangerous. I almost passed out at one point. I would probably do it again but I need a year to pass in order to forget what it was like. An amazing but weird experience.

If you're bored....

I was shown this website a few years ago in university when I had a lot of time on my hands. I can't believe I forgot about it. It's brilliant!!

I think that Fishy and First Drink of the Day should be the anthems to our Japanese lives (Kat hungover in an indian restaurant "perhaps a beer will sort me out")

But nothing can beat the pure genius that is We Like the Moon. Im so sad. I giggle to myself in my appartment watching these.
